Area Law Enforcement
Roughly 50 automobiles have been marked with what appears to be human bodily fluid in the German municipality of Hanau near Frankfurt, police confirm law enforcement.
Automobiles, building surfaces and mailboxes were defaced, sometimes with prohibited symbols, they stated in a release.
Law enforcement say they were notified late on Wednesday, when a resident noticed that a car in the Lamboy area of Hanau had been covered with a reddish fluid.
The substance had been drawn in the pattern of a banned symbol, they stated.
Police then found numerous other marked vehicles and house walls in the adjacent neighborhood.
Swastikas are illegal in Germany under laws outlawing the public exhibition of Nazi-era symbols.
Police state initial examinations show the liquid was probably human bodily fluid.
"Currently there is no clue as to its source; officials are presently not cognizant of any injuries in relation with the occurrence," they added.
Municipal representatives said they were working "to resolve the case" and have requested to the public for details.
A senior political figure commented the attack left him without words and needed to be resolved quickly.
"This event affects the very heart of Hanau and reopens the trauma of the far-right terrorist attack in 2020," he wrote on social media, recalling the death of nine individuals by a shooter targeting individuals of foreign heritage in 2020.
