Nineteen of Daniil Medvedev's 21 titles have been earned on hardcourt

A resurgent Daniil Medvedev claimed his initial trophy for nearly 30 months with a win over opponent Moutet in the tournament final.

The athlete, a ex- world number one, has endured a torrid season, winning just a single victory at the Grand Slams and undergoing a setback at the American major.

Medvedev's unpredictability on the professional circuit - and struggles with his serve in especial - caused him falling of the world's top 10 and eventually splitting with long-time mentor his previous coach.

Presently working with Johansson and Rohan Goetzke, the tennis star has consistently progressed in the recent weeks - peaking in a tightly fought three-set triumph over challenger Corentin Moutet.

This marks his initial trophy following the Italian tournament and initial on a hard court after March of the previous year.

Victory also signifies the Russian has achieved 21 victories at twenty-one distinct competitions.

"It's the first time I am participating in a event with my children at once, so to get a championship is particularly special," commented tennis professional the champion.

"This title is in dedication of my second daughter Victoria, because the initial championship I won when my child my daughter was born was for her."

The athlete, the 2021 US Open champion, had lost his past six finals, including in Halle earlier this year.

His retrieving strategy and frequent outbursts on the tennis court had prompted observers to wonder if his ability to compete at the top level was over.

But the player has altered his approach in the last few weeks, striving to advance forward and perform positively, supported by an improved service.

Medvedev recovered from a deficit in the opening set against the challenging opponent, winning 4 of the concluding five points to gain the advantage.

The competitors traded breaks in the middle set before Moutet, attempting for his first professional title, seized the initiative to create a final set.

He defended 4 early opportunities in a tight deciding set before the champion broke to that score to serve for the match.

Appropriately, the winner earned victory with a rally at the net, with his opponent incapable to handle a volley after over two and a half hours.
